Gregory Mthembu-Salter has worked as a political economist for over twenty years, specialising in Southern and Central Africa. In 2007 he was the finance expert for the UN Group of Experts (GoE) for the DRC, appointed by the UN Security Council. Gregory again served on the GoE during 2010-2011, and wrote the Group’s due diligence guidance for companies trading minerals from the Great Lakes region. Gregory wrote country reports on DRC, Rwanda and Burundi for the London-based Economist Intelligence Unit for over twenty years, and has contributed for over a decade to Paris-based The Africa Report, a sister publication of Jeune Afrique.

MA in Economics from the University of Cape Town.
